A Case of Malignant Melanoma in the External Auditory Canal

Abstract
|
|
|
The tumors originating from the ear are rare compared to those of other parts of the body.
Recently the authors were experienced a case of malignant melanoma in the external auditory canal.
A 30 years ofd` woman had been a small finger tip sized dark brown mass on the superoposterior portion of the left external auditory canal.
Under local anesthesia tumor (1.4×1.2×1.0 cm in size) was removed completely through the endaural approach pathological examination confirmed as malignant melanoma.
The prognosis the malignant melanoma is serious but the course of the disease is not always hopeless .
In this case, for nearly one year of observation there has been no recurrence or other problems after total excision of the tumor.
